For moments of pause and relaxation during stressful times, FAU WiSo provides a “Room of Silence” for students and staff. It is located in room 3.125 at Lange Gasse and is equipped with yoga mats and seating. A Hatha yoga course for employees takes place in the Room of Silence; more information can be found under Current Dates – Health Courses – Health Management at FAU (German page). Starting on January, 8th, a student trainer will offer a relaxation and Yoga class every Thursday from 3 to 4 pm. Registration is possible via Studon.
To ensure that the space remains pleasant for everyone, the following rules of conduct apply:
- The Room of Silence offers the opportunity—consistent with FAU’s Code of Conduct on religious and ideological diversity—to practice religious, spiritual, and contemplative activities. The room may be used exclusively for these purposes; it is not a general lounge or common area.
- Conversely, religious practices within the School are to be limited exclusively to the Room of Silence and may not be extended to other areas of FAU WiSo.
- Respect and appreciation of interculturality and tolerance are expected of all users of the room.
- To maintain the neutrality of the room, no personal items, furnishings, or promotional materials may be left behind after use.
- Only members of FAU are permitted to use the room. Granting access to external persons is not permitted.
Compliance with these rules is a prerequisite for continued use of the room. If conflicts arise regarding the use of the room or in the event of rule violations, please get in touch at an early stage.
To be able to unlock the room with your card, a one-time activation by the room administration is required. Please send an email including your IDM identifier to: wiso-raumverwaltung@fau.de.
Before each planned use, the FAUcard must be validated. In case of technical problems in the room, please contact FAU’s control center: leitwarte@fau.de or +49 9131 85-27777.
