Assessing the initial language level at the beginning of vocational training is essential for providing targeted subsequent support. In addition, language development must be monitored throughout vocational training in order to address potential difficulties in final examinations at an early stage. Until now, no assessment instruments specifically tailored to vocational education have been available.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1011\" data-end=\"1248\">Together with Prof. Michalak (FAU), the <em data-start=\"1051\" data-end=\"1101\">Nuremberg Vocational Schools German Test (NBD-T)<\/em> was developed to address this gap. It is a fully automated assessment instrument that provides immediate feedback to both learners and teachers.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1250\" data-end=\"1553\">The NBD-T supports graduates of Business and Vocational Education programs in implementing the mandatory teaching principle <em data-start=\"1374\" data-end=\"1397\">Berufssprache Deutsch<\/em> required for all vocational teachers in Bavaria. Students are introduced to the NBD-T during their studies and apply it during practical training phases.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1555\" data-end=\"2000\">The project includes a binational comparison of experiences, as German-speaking countries face similar challenges while assessment instruments must also account for context-specific characteristics. The project examines whether a test developed in Germany can be applied in Switzerland or whether adaptations are required. At the same time, approaches to language support based on the assessment results are discussed across national contexts.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2002\" data-end=\"2013\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-start=\"2015\" data-end=\"2159\">\n<div class=\"accordion-group\">\n<h2 class=\"accordion-heading\"><button class=\"accordion-toggle\" data-toggle=\"collapse\"  href=\"#collapse_1\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapse_1\" id=\"collapse_button_1\"> Language Support in Vocational Education \u2013 Designing Language-Sensitive Learning Situations in Politics and History Education <\/button><\/h2>\n<div id=\"collapse_1\" class=\"accordion-body\" aria-labelledby=\"collapse_button_1\">\n<div class=\"accordion-inner clearfix\">\n<p data-start=\"2161\" data-end=\"2210\">(FAU Funds)<br data-start=\"2172\" data-end=\"2175\" \/>Duration: 23\/10\/2024 \u2013 22\/01\/2025<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2212\" data-end=\"2224\"><strong data-start=\"2212\" data-end=\"2224\">Abstract<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2226\" data-end=\"2606\">In the winter semester 2024\/25, FAU master\u2019s students in Business Education had the opportunity to redesign learning tasks from the subject <em data-start=\"2366\" data-end=\"2388\">Politics and History<\/em> in a language-sensitive manner. The materials were aligned with concrete language competence profiles of a vocational school class, previously identified using the <em data-start=\"2553\" data-end=\"2603\">Nuremberg Vocational Schools German Test (NBD-T)<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2608\" data-end=\"2861\">Under the interdisciplinary supervision of Prof. Dr. Nicole Kimmelmann and Prof. Dr. Magdalena Michalak, students developed teaching units that address both curriculum requirements and the subject-specific and linguistic demands of final examinations.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2863\" data-end=\"3126\">The materials developed in the seminar are integrated into the work of the working group <em data-start=\"2952\" data-end=\"3015\">AK-PuG \u201cDigital and Language-Sensitive Learning Environments\u201d<\/em> and can be directly used by vocational school teachers, thereby contributing to regional school development.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3128\" data-end=\"3139\"><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p data-start=\"3141\" data-end=\"3264\">\n<div class=\"accordion-group\">\n<h2 class=\"accordion-heading\"><button class=\"accordion-toggle\" data-toggle=\"collapse\"  href=\"#collapse_2\" aria-expanded=\"false\" aria-controls=\"collapse_2\" id=\"collapse_button_2\"> Language Support and Inclusion in Vocational Education from a German\u2013Swiss Interdisciplinary Perspective <\/button><\/h2>\n<div id=\"collapse_2\" class=\"accordion-body\" aria-labelledby=\"collapse_button_2\">\n<div class=\"accordion-inner clearfix\">\n<p data-start=\"3266\" data-end=\"3315\">(FAU Funds)<br data-start=\"3277\" data-end=\"3280\" \/>Duration: 01\/02\/2024 \u2013 19\/07\/2024<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3317\" data-end=\"3329\"><strong data-start=\"3317\" data-end=\"3329\">Abstract<\/strong><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3331\" data-end=\"3695\">Intersectional and inclusion-oriented approaches to diversity represent a key challenge in teacher education across national contexts, particularly in relation to migration and inclusion in vocational education. Germany and Switzerland are guided by different understandings of inclusion, which result in distinct approaches within vocational education practice.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"3697\" data-end=\"4034\">The project focuses on interdisciplinary exchange formats between Business and Vocational Education, Educational Sciences, and Special Education.
